Bilingual and Native Spanish Speakers

For native speakers of Spanish, the program functions to accomplish important goals:

  • maintain and develop Spanish proficiency
  • develop English proficiency
  • develop literacy and academic achievement in both languages
  • perform academically at or above grade level
  • develop positive attitudes toward the two languages being used
  • develop positive attitudes toward other cultures
  • self-confidence and pride in the Spanish language

    • English Speakers

    For native speakers of English, the program accomplishes these goals:

    • develop high levels of proficicency in Spanish while making normal progress in English language development
    • develop literacy and academic achievement in both languages
    • perform academically at or above grade level
    • develop positive attitudes toward the two languages being used
    • develop positive attitudes toward other cultures
